number one dad

Thursday, March 3, 2011

on my mom's birthday i sent her 53 texts, each saying something i love about her, but, my dad is a little less technologically savvy so texting him would just make him frustrated, so in order to let him know how much i love him, i will write the list here and tell him to look at it.  that should be easy enough for him...but, i can only hope.

Dad,
i love how when i call you on the phone you tell me "it's so good to hear your voice".  i love how i can ask you for advice on anything and you always have an answer.  i love how you support me in everything and anything i do.  i love how you are always willing and able to give me a blessing.  i love how you let me know that i mean the world to you.  i love how you believe in me.  i love how adventurous you are, the reason i am not a wimp is because you've never let be be one.  if it weren't for you i wouldn't have a never ending love for bands like the eagles or journey.  you have taught me to always put work before play.  you have taught me that if there is a job to be done, you do it right the first time.  you always finish what you start.  through your example i have seen that the gospel always comes first, there are no excuses.  you are always willing to drop anything to help someone. you are one of the most generous people i know.  you make sure that i am taken care of, that i am happy, and that i am doing what i am suppose to.  you always show interest in what is going on in my life.  you laugh at my jokes.  you let mom and i go on endless adventures and you never tell us no.  you drop anything to spend time with me.  you love the outdoors.  you let me live my life but make sure i always know that you will always be there for me.  you love your family more than anything.  if you love something (whether it's the mules or byu football) you absolutely love it.  you are a hard worker.  you love telling stories.  you show integrity and honesty in all you do. you are so organized and clean.  you know how to fix anything.  you hate technology (i love that), you really were born in the wrong century.  you can take down trevor, ryan and i in about 30 seconds.  you are so healthy and have showed me the importance of being active.  you are so smart with your money.  you have taught me the value of a good education.  you never back down from a challenge.  you are a teenager at heart.  you like spoiling me.  i love how you sing songs as loud as you can, even though you don't have the greatest voice.  i love how much you care about your parents and brothers.  you are a returned missionary.  you always know when i need someone to talk to.  you always know when not to talk to me.  you are particular about the details.  you take care of everything you own.  you love mom so much and would do anything for her.  i love how excited you get to see me.  you are so competitive.  i love how you tell the same jokes over and over again.  i love that you never get mad and if you do, you can't stay mad.  you never let anything get in the way of something to be accomplished.  i love how much you hate shopping.  i love how you make me feel like i am the best at whatever i do.  you are always on time.  you take your callings very seriously.
i could come up with a billion other things to say about you that i love and am thankful for.  you are the best example to me and i love you so much.  i really don't know what i would do or where i would be in my life without you.  i am so glad i am your only girl because you are my best friend and i don't have to share you with any other dramatic female.  i am so thankful for the love you show me and how much you care about me.  because of you, i realize that the love heavenly father has for me must be great.  i don't know how i got so blessed to have you as my dad.

happy birthday dad, i love you!!
