i went on a run tonight, the first run i have been on since i had mono. the dry-ice cold air and high altitude made my lungs ache. as i ran past tucano's grill, i closed my eyes and tried to pretend it was kahuku grill i was smelling and that there was sand beneath my feet instead of black pavement. it took me back home for a second but as soon as i opened my eyes, mount timpanogos was in front of me and the hum pouring into my right ear was from the dozens of cars passing me, not the rush of blue waves.
today was a beautiful day. i spent it watching my cousins kick around a soccer ball and driving up the canyon with my brothers.
i am enjoying being home very much but my heart aches for hawaii. i miss the heat, the humidity, the sand, the surf, the ocean, the waves and believe it or not, i miss school. i miss learning and having assignments due.
they say that distance makes the heart grow fonder and i know it's only been about two weeks but, man is my heart growing fonder.
Very true phrase...we always realize how blessed we are with certain things when they're gone. Those are beautiful pictures, enjoy your time home, you may miss it when you go back to Hawaii : )
