my thoughts have been all over the board recently.
i've been thinking a lot lately about what it means to love-- what it means to give part of yourself to another human being; whether it's emotionally, spiritually, or physically. it fascinates me to wonder how one day you have never met someone, the next you are acquaintances and then with a little time invested in the pursuit of each other, you become lovers. someone who had never crossed your mind, becomes the driving force for almost every one of your actions.
i think we all have our own definitions of love. we all mold and shape it to fit our desires, our needs, and our beliefs. some believe in soul mates while others would prefer to live life alone.
i was at a party last night. i am not a huge party goer but, i went. sometimes, i don't think there is anything more painful to watch than a group of young adults interacting. small talk, flirting, avoidance-- it's all there. i'm not a fan. over the past few months i've really thought about what i want from love and how i define it. as life changes, so does my definition. the last boy i dated set a really high standard for any future relationships. i am so thankful for that.
it's a strange thing to me, how love can make us feel so whole or so torn apart.
