i recently got into the series the walking dead so, my thoughts are plagued with zombies.
tonight bobby and i put off our adult-like responsibilities, kicked back and watched a few episodes-- we're both hooked.
(thanks brother kester for the new addiction)
at our ward fhe halloween party, we were required to participate in childish and slightly embarrassing dress-up games. i've always been uncomfortable with these sorts of things--don't ask why.
although it wasn't exactly my cup-o'-tea, my roommates had me laughing real hard.
so, i am a little biased when it comes to this guy but, let me tell you, he is the man.
when i first met him he told me all about this idea he had of a website which would inspire people to live up to their potential by fulfilling their passions. whether it's skating, surfing, art, or music he wants people to know that whatever you do, you can have a positive influence on the society and world which you are a part of.
bobby amazes me.
his ambition and drive are killer and i am SO stoked to see this idea of his come to life.
he'll change the world, i know it.
bobby poort, you are the sweepstakes winner.
bobby is unbelievably talented and although this is just a little preview of what lies ahead,
i attended a dinner tonight for the leavitt institute for international development. the parents of my good friend danielle are the masterminds behind it. maybe they would be a little embarrassed if they realized that i, mckenzie king, am talking about them on my unimportant blog but, they inspire me in so many ways. they exemplify what i am studying in school and i want to be like them in almost every aspect of life.
i was moved to tears when i saw this video.
in 2010 i had the opportunity to go to ukraine and see their work in action.
there is a thrill so real and powerful that comes from living near the ocean. the salt water gives me an exhilaration that i will never feel elsewhere. but, as i have spent my time living thousands of miles away from home i have realized where my heart lies. i am a mountain girl. the red rock, the clear starry nights, the towering mountains, rolling hills, the wildlife, and trees that reach endlessly toward the sky are my lifeline. they give me the freedom and independence a girl needs. i don't know if i'll ever be able to love a man the way i love the great-outdoors. we are all products of our environments and mine just happens to be mule rides, tents, hiking boots, mosquito bites, and dirt underneath my fingernails.
i feel like i am a pretty ambitious person. i like to plan, get things done, and cross items off my many lists. however, there are moments when i seem to have a piano tied to my rear-end and i have no motivation to make anything happen. maybe the scars on my legs aren't from mosquito bites...
this song is getting me through finals. headphones in, the end is in sight.
in all honesty i should've been writing my last research paper for my groups, leadership, and culture class but, one can't live with regrets. the pipe masters is the last surf competition in the vans triple crown and is one of the biggest in the world. let me tell you, the waves were massive. it was so fun to sit in the sun and watch the pros get barreled like it was nobodies business.
and who can turn down free beach towels, water bottles, vans stickers, and rockstars?
